Despite many years of professional postproduction work as an Associate Producer with ESPN's digital video team, it wasn't until I got to NYU that I really picked up a camera or audio recorder.
I produced a non-narrative interview project that required audio and video components - both using the same tape. The pieces were edited in Adobe CC with Audition and Premiere.
In 2017-18, I enrolled in two multimedia production classes through the NYU School of Professional Studies: audio reporting and graphic design. I sharpened my skills with several programs, including Hindenburg, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
My final project for the audio reporting class, a light-hearted report about information overload, is included here.
Not usually one for the cameras, I decided to try my hand at field reporting for my Writing, Research & Reporting class at NYU. I produced a broadcast-style news segment reflecting on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
The report centers on my Studio 20 colleague, Saman Shafiq, who grew up in Pakistan and has vivid memories of 9/11 as a child. She describes life in her home country as we learn about the impact of the attacks beyond our borders.
